Why You’ll Love This Recipe
You know when you try something so good at a restaurant, you immediately think, “I have to recreate this”? That was me with Papa Murphy’s mini sweet pizzas. I was hooked from the first bite—the crispy, chewy crust, the warm cinnamon oat filling, and that gooey drizzle of cream cheese glaze? Pure comfort.
I didn’t want to wait for the next takeout night to have them again, so I decided to reverse engineer the recipe in my kitchen. After a couple of test runs (and many eager taste testers in my family), I finally landed on a version that’s just as good—maybe even better because it’s made fresh at home. My daughter Sophia is always the first to ask for seconds, and even my husband—who claims he doesn’t have a sweet tooth—has admitted these are irresistible.
These sweet pizzas are perfect for small celebrations, movie nights, or even a surprise treat on a random Tuesday. I usually make them as two 6-inch mini pizzas, but you can also roll them out as one big 10-inch version.
If you like this idea of cozy homemade twists on favorites, you’ll probably also love my Italian Easter Bread, my fruity Berry Mascarpone Tart, or even the fluffy Mini Lemon Cupcakes I make every Fourth of July.
And if you’re into frosting recipes like the cream cheese glaze here, you should check out my Strawberry Buttercream Frosting—it’s one of my top-piped toppings for summer bakes. Want something even more playful? Try my Mermaid Cake Pops or those adorable Mini Italian Easter Breads that always disappear faster than I can snap a photo.

- Measuring Cup
- Measuring spoons
- Glass mixing bowl
- Blending whisk
- Plastic wrap or Disposable shower cap
- KitchenAid mixer
- Heat Pad
- Hand mixer
- Dough cutter
- Rolling pin
- silicone spatulas
- Baking sheet
- Parchment paper sheets
- Silicone dipping cup
What You’ll Need From Your Pantry
Now let me break down the sweet and scrumptious ingredients for these mini sweet pizzas. It may seem like a lot at first glance, but it’s really not much when you break it down by the pizza layers. All of these ingredients are simple, common kitchen ingredients so don’t worry about needing anything fancy here. Here’s my ingredient list for mini sweet pizzas:
Pizza dough:
- ½ cup warm water, temps at 105-110 F
- 1 ½ tbsp granulated sugar
- 1 tbsp dry yeast
- ½ tbsp olive oil
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- ½ tsp salt
- Cooking spray oil
Cinnamon spread:
- ½ cup butter, room temperature
- ½ cup Old-Fashioned Rolled Oats
- ½ cup brown sugar
- 3 tsp ground cinnamon
Cream cheese glaze:
- 2 oz cream cheese, room temperature
- 4 tbsp butter, room temperature
- ¾ cup powdered sugar
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
Before You Start: My Quick Tip
Over the years, I’ve made these sweet pizzas more times than I can count—especially when we need a cozy dessert on a chilly night. Here are a few tips that have made the process easier for me:
- I never rush the dough rising. I usually place the bowl on a heating pad near my stove or tuck it into the warmest corner of the kitchen with a towel over it. It makes a big difference in the texture!
- If you’re short on time, cut the butter and cream cheese into smaller cubes—they soften so much faster that way, especially in the winter when my kitchen stays cold.
- If the glaze turns out too thick to drizzle, I just stir in a splash of milk. It smooths it out perfectly without affecting the flavor.
- I typically make two 6-inch pizzas, especially if it’s just me and the kids. But if we’re having company, I roll it into one big 10-inch pizza instead.
- If you’re looking for more fun small-batch recipes like this, I definitely recommend trying my Watermelon Bites Dipped in Chocolate, Patriotic Cinnamon Twists, or even the super simple Fruit S’mores. All big hits at our summer gatherings!

Let’s Make It Together
Pizza Dough
- Start by measuring out all the dough ingredients.
- In a mixing bowl, whisk together warm water, yeast, and sugar.
- Cover the bowl and let the yeast bloom for 10–15 minutes.
- Transfer the mixture to a stand mixer with a dough hook.
- Add olive oil, flour, and salt. Mix on low, then increase to medium until dough forms.
- Shape into a ball and transfer to a greased bowl. Cover with plastic wrap and towel.
- Let rise for 1 hour until doubled in size. I place it near my stove or even on a heating pad.
- Meanwhile, let your butter and cream cheese soften on the counter (cut them into small chunks to speed things up).
- Line a baking sheet with parchment.
- Divide dough in half (or keep whole) and roll each out to ¼ inch thick.
- Transfer to the prepared baking sheet.
Cinnamon Spread
- Preheat oven to 400°F. Measure out all ingredients.
- Mix butter, oats, brown sugar, and cinnamon in a bowl.
- Mash until well combined and spreadable.
- Spread over the pizza dough evenly. I like using the back of a spoon to get it all the way to the edges.
- Bake for 9–11 minutes until golden and bubbly. Your kitchen will smell amazing!
Cream Cheese Glaze
- While pizzas bake, combine softened butter and cream cheese in a bowl.
- Use a hand mixer to beat until smooth.
- Add powdered sugar and vanilla, and mix again until fully combined.
- Transfer to a silicone cup and microwave for 20–30 seconds until drizzle-ready (or thin with a splash of milk).
- Drizzle over the warm baked pizzas. Sometimes I use a piping bag to make swirls like I do with my Lemon Cupcakes.
Cut, Serve, and Store It Like a Pro
Honestly, nothing beats enjoying these mini sweet pizzas fresh out of the oven—the crust is warm and slightly crisp, the cinnamon filling is gooey, and the glaze is perfectly melty. That’s the magic moment!
But if you do end up with leftovers (which rarely happens in our house unless I intentionally hide a piece for the next day!), just store them in an airtight container at room temperature for up to one day, or in the fridge for up to 3 days. When you’re ready to enjoy them again, I recommend reheating them gently in the oven at 300°F for 5–7 minutes. It brings back that just-baked texture so much better than the microwave, which tends to make the crust soft and chewy in the wrong way.
If I know we won’t get to them the next day, I’ll freeze them without the glaze, then thaw and reheat later before drizzling fresh glaze on top. It’s not exactly the same as freshly baked, but still pretty delicious!
