Gingerbread Man Chocolates

I love trying out different flavor combinations as often as I can, but especially when it comes to sandwiches. Every aspect of sandwiches can be so versatile that the flavor combinations are delightfully endless! Depending on the chosen toppings, you can make a sandwich that is sweet or one that is savory and satisfying, and that can be served at any time of day!

One of my favorite sandwiches to make, especially for lunch, is this Provolone and Apple Grilled Cheese Sandwich! This flavor combo is just so scrumptious that it’s swoon-worthy! This is the perfect lunch recipe to give you the right amount of energy to power through the rest of the day with a pep in your step!

Not only is this one of my personal favorites, but it’s actually one of my daughter’s favorites as well! This flavorful grilled sandwich is the perfect kid’s meal or kid’s snack to give my daughter the energy she needs to be the active little one that she is! I love that she enjoys this healthy twist to the traditional sandwiches that just have the typical meat and cheese set-up.

These provolone and apple grilled sandwiches are not only great for kids, but they also provide a kind of fancy feel to a lunch date with your closest gal pal! Actually, this scrumptious sandwich can be served in all kinds of satisfying ways. Serve these for brunch, lunch, a snack, an appetizer, or for an easy dinner!

However you want to serve these satisfying sandwiches, they are sure to be absolutely delicious and leave you feeling satisfied, energetic, and ready for whatever the day brings! Here’s how to make scrumptious Provolone and Apple Grilled Cheese Sandwiches.

    Savory Sandwich Ingredients

As for the ingredients? Well I only use a handful of the yummiest sandwich ingredients for this scrumptious set-up. This is what I use to make these energizing, and oh-so-satisfying grilled sandwiches:

    • 2 tbsp mayonnaise
    • 4 slices sourdough bread
    • 6 slices Provolone cheese
    • 1 Gala Apple, (or other apple of your choice) thinly-sliced
    • 6 slices Turkey Oven Roasted Sliced (or other sliced lunch meat of your choice)
      • You can easily leave the deli meat out of this recipe for a vegetarian-friendly option!

How to Make a Savory Provolone and Apple Grilled Cheese Sandwich

All this scrumptious sandwich talk making your belly growl and mouth water yet? Then let’s get started so you can enjoy a lunch that will leave you feeling energized and refreshed! Here’s how I make provolone and apple grilled cheese sandwiches:

    1. First, set out all of the savory sandwich ingredients.
    2. Next, thinly slice the Gala Apple, or desired apple.
    3. Then, layout the 4 slices of sourdough bread on a flat surface. I like to use a cutting board.
    4. Next, spread the mayo on top of each of the bread slices.
    5. Preheat a nonstick skillet on medium-low heat.
    6. Then, lay the 2 slices of bread in the hot skillet, with the mayo side facing down on the pan. Start assembling the sandwiches by layering one slice of provolone cheese on the bread, followed by turkey, or lunch meat, slices.
    7. Layer with another slice of cheese.
    8. Spread several apple slices over each of the 2 open sandwiches.
    9. Then, cover with another final slice of cheese.
    10. Finally, put the last 2 slices of bread on top of the sandwiches with the mayo sides facing up.
    11. Cover the skillet with its lid and cook the sandwiches for 3-5 minutes, or until golden brown on the bottom. Keep occasionally checking to make sure the bread doesn’t burn.
    12. When the bottom bread is golden brown, flip the sandwiches and press them down with a spatula. Re-cover the skillet and cook for another 3-5 minutes.
    13. When the second side is golden brown, remove the sandwiches from the heat and cut diagonally. Enjoy!

    Storage Tip:

These scrumptious sandwiches are best enjoyed right after cooking! However, any leftovers can be wrapped up and stored in the fridge overnight, if needed. The next day, reheat leftovers in a hot skillet.
