Even if you’ve boiled eggs 100 times, it can still be a really tricky process. Both cooking the eggs to the perfect consistency, and cooking them in a way where the shells will peel off easily without damaging the eggs is a hard balance to achieve.

That’s where color-changing egg timers really come in handy! They take away a ton of the guesswork when it comes to how long is the perfect amount of time to achieve both egg goals. If used correctly, the egg timer will let you know when the eggs have reached the soft, medium, or hard-boiled stage. No loud buzzers included!

This process is totally hassle-free so you can look forward to an egg-citing snack time in just a few minutes. Here is How to Boil Eggs with an Egg Timer!

To boil eggs with an egg timer, all you need is: some eggs, ice water, a cooking pot, an egg timer, and a large bowl. First, fill the large bowl with a lot of ice. Then, place an egg timer in the middle of the cooking pot and gently place the eggs around it. Pour enough water over the eggs to cover them by at least 1 inch. Bring the eggs to a boil over high heat. Once boiling, lower the heat to medium and let the eggs cook until the timer color indicates the desired yolk consistency has been reached. Then, immediately transfer the boiled eggs to the ice bath and let them cool for 10 minutes. Slice, serve, and enjoy!

How to Boil Eggs with an Egg Timer

Now let’s move on to making this scrumptious snack! As promised this whole process is super easy and quick. Plus if you’re completely new to cooking and just starting out then this egg boiling process is a much easier way to get used to egg boiling times without having to deal with the guesswork. Here’s how to boil eggs with an egg timer:

    1. First, set out all of the egg ingredients and fill a large mixing bowl with a lot of ice. Let it sit out while cooking the eggs so some of the ice can melt and create a nice cold ice bath.
    2. Next, place an egg timer in the middle of a 6-quart cooking pot.
    3. Gently place the eggs in the pot surrounding the timer.
    4. Then, pour enough water into the pot to completely cover the eggs by at least 1 inch.
    5. Bring the eggs to a boil over high heat.
    6. Once the water is boiling, lower the heat to a medium setting.
    7. Cook the eggs until the timer color indicates that the desired yolk consistency has been reached.
    8. While the eggs are cooking, check the ice bath to make sure there’s plenty of cold water to cool the eggs. If needed, add more water so the eggs can be fully submerged.
    9. Then, transfer the boiled eggs to the ice bath to stop them from cooking any more.
    10. Let the eggs cool in the ice-cold water for 10 minutes.
    11. Finally, scoop the eggs out, serve, and enjoy!
