It’s not hard at all to see why pizza is generally considered one of the best foods of all time! Between the ability to dress it up with literally any toppings and flavor combinations, and the fact that it is one of the best people-pleasers out there makes pizza pretty much unbeatable. Even the pickiest of eaters can’t resist devouring a little slice of this food heaven!

Since pizza is so well-loved and even picky eater-approved, it has become a common dinner plan for many households to keep around regularly, including mine. While a lot of people like the ease of delivery or frozen pizzas, I’ve always been someone who much prefers the taste of homemade anyday! None of that store-bought or delivery stuff compares to the fresh taste of my homemade pizzas.

Now, I know what you might be thinking over there, “Homemade pizza dough? Do I really have time for that?” With my Easy Pizza Dough recipe, you do! Even though pizza dough requires a good bit of time to rise properly, the overall prep time only takes about 15 minutes, leaving you with plenty of time to get other things taken care of in the meantime.

So you can easily whip the pizza dough up and set it aside to rise while you work on other things like helping the kids with homework or chopping up fresh veggies to dress up your pizza with later on. Then, when it’s time to pile on the toppings, you can just hand that job over to the kids and turn a simple task like making dinner into a fun family activity!

I have even made this dough for pizza parties where I let everyone make their own pizza with their favorite toppings! In the summertime, during the beloved grilling season, I pull out my family favorite recipe for individual Grilled Pizzas where I cook customized pizzas for everyone on my outdoor grill. This pizza dough is perfect for pretty much any pizza plans you can come up with!

On the other hand, this pizza dough can also be made a day or 2 ahead of time and stored in the fridge until you’re ready to use it. However you decide to prep it, this Easy Pizza Dough will make pizza nights at your house so much more fun and filled with even fresher and tastier flavors! You’ll never again want to pick up another frozen pizza after you try this!

    Easy Equipment

First, let me go over the tools and equipment I use for this simple pizza dough recipe. Luckily, I don’t actually need a lot when it comes to tools, which is super nice when it’s time for cleaning up the kitchen. Here are the tools I use for making easy pizza dough:

    • Glass mixing bowl
    • KitchenAid mixer
    • Food wrap or disposable shower cap
    • Measuring Cup
    • Measuring spoons
    • Blending whisk
    • Heat Mat (optional)

    Simple Pizza Dough Ingredients

Once you round up all of the kitchen tools, it’s time to gather the fresh pizza dough ingredients. Surprisingly, there’s not a lot required here either! All you need is some dry yeast and a few common household ingredients and you’re good to go! These are the ingredients I use for fresh, easy pizza dough:

    • ½ cup warm water, temps at 105-110 F
    • ½ tbsp granulated sugar
    • 1 tbsp dry yeast
    • ½ tbsp olive oil
    • 1 cup all-purpose flour
    • ½ tsp salt
    • Cooking spray oil

How to Make Easy Pizza Dough

Now, it’s time for a little homemade magic! Time to make that dough…pizza dough, that is! As promised, my method is super simple and easy to follow along with. Just make sure to set aside plenty of rising time and everything will run smoothly. Here’s how I make easy pizza dough:

    1. First, gather up and measure out all of the pizza dough ingredients using the measuring cups and spoons.
    2. Then, in a large glass mixing bowl, combine the warm water, yeast, and sugar.
    3. Using a blending whisk, whisk the ingredients together until well combined.
    4. Then, cover the bowl with plastic wrap, or a disposable shower cap (my preference).
    5. Let the mixture sit for 10 minutes. It needs to form bubbles on top.
    6. Next, transfer the yeast mixture to the bowl of a standing mixer fitted with a dough hook.
    7. Then, add in the olive oil and mix the dough on low speed.
    8. While mixing on low, slowly pour in the flour and salt.
    9. Keep mixing and kneading the dough until it forms one large dough ball.
    10. Next, spray another large glass bowl with some cooking oil and place the pizza dough ball in there.
    11. Cover the glass bowl with plastic wrap or a disposable shower cap, then cover again with a wet kitchen towel to hold in the warmth. Let the dough rise until it is doubled in size, around 1 to 1.5 hour.
      1. I like to place the dough bowl on a heat pad to help it rise. If you don’t have one then just sit your dough in the warmest spot of your house.
    12. Now you have the perfect pizza dough for dinner! Roll out your pizza dough to the desired thickness, top with your favorite toppings, bake and enjoy!

    Storing Pizza Dough

To store pizza dough: transfer the dough to an airtight container or wrap the dough in plastic wrap. Store the wrapped dough in the fridge for up to 2 weeks, or in the freezer for up to 3 months.

To prepare the refrigerated pizza dough: remove it from the fridge, unwrap, and place it on the counter or in a lightly-floured bowl to come to room temperature. To prepare frozen pizza dough: transfer the frozen dough to the fridge and let it thaw overnight. After thawing, move the dough to a lightly-floured surface, loosely cover, and allow it to come to room temperature before rolling out.
