You’ve been there, right? When you’re trying to make a nice dinner for a crowd or prepare a big salad for a cook-out and suddenly you realize, you forgot to get the hard-boiled eggs going! Salads just aren’t the same without them, and for dishes like potato salad you definitely can’t just skip over them. But the problem is, you’re running out of time to get the meal ready.

The traditional style of boiling eggs already takes up a good bit of time just to get the water boiling and then boiling the eggs to perfection. Then, after you finally get them cooked, you have to rush them to an ice bath, peel each individual egg, and then dice each egg.

Now imagine you have to do that for a whole bunch of eggs. That whole process takes up a ton of time that could probably be better used somewhere else in the kitchen. Luckily, there’s a wonderfully easy and super quick trick to making a bunch of hard-boiled eggs at one time that require only minimum preparation afterwards!

This nifty little kitchen trick is called the Instant Pot, No-Peel, Hard-Boiled Eggs. What?! No peeling required?! Yep, you read that right. This process involves cooking the eggs without their shells to begin with. You end up with what is called an egg loaf, one big hunk of hard-boiled eggs that is ready to dice right after cooling down some.

This whole instant pot process, from prepping the pot to cutting the egg loaf, takes less than 15 minutes all together! That’s how long it would take just to get water boiling for the traditional method, if you’re lucky. This is the fast and easy (and less messy) way to get boiled eggs done in no time!

These diced eggs are perfect for salads, baking, and even for snacking. This method is quickly going to become your favorite method anytime you need boiled eggs, and not just for large groups or parties! Here’s how I do it.

    Easy Egg Equipment

First, let’s go over the equipment needed for this simple kitchen trick. I only need the help of 3 kitchen tools to get the job done. Here are the tools I use to make an instant pot egg loaf:

    • Measuring Cup
    • Pressure cooker
    • Stackable steamer insert pans

How to Make Instant Pot, No-Peel, Hard-Boiled Eggs

Once you’ve got your equipment and ingredients gathered, it’s time to whip up some kitchen magic! Ready to get a batch of hard-boiled eggs ready in no time? Then let’s get started! Here’s how I make no-peel, hard-boiled eggs:

    1. First, gather the ingredients and equipment.
    2. Then, spray the inside of the bottom steamer insert with the cooking spray.
    3. Next, break each of the eggs into the greased insert.
    4. Put the pot insert with eggs at the bottom of the pot stack.
    5. Then, use a measuring cup to add 1 cup water to the instant pot.
    6. Place the insert pans into the water of the instant pot.
    7. Next, seal the pressure cooker and cook the eggs on the “pressure cook” setting for 6 minutes.
    8. After cooking, release the steam naturally.
    9. Then, remove the insert pan from the instant pot.
    10.  Let it cool for about 5 minutes.
    11. Next, remove the cooked egg loaf from the pot insert and transfer it to a cutting board.
    12. Begin chopping and dicing the egg loaf with a large knife.
    13. Keep dicing until you have the desired amount of diced eggs for your recipe or salad.

    Storing Boiled Eggs

To store diced hard-boiled eggs: transfer the eggs to an airtight container lined with a damp paper towel. Cover the eggs with another damp paper towel and seal the lid tightly. Diced hard-boiled eggs will stay good stored like this in the fridge for 3-4 days. Label the date on the outside of the container to keep up with freshness.

To store remaining, uncut egg loaf: wrap the entire remainder of egg loaf in damp paper towels and transfer to an airtight container. Seal the lid tightly and store in the fridge for up to 5-7 days. Label the date on the outside of the container to keep up with freshness.
