Chocolate Cookies with Peppermint Chips

Cinnamon sugar is delectable in everything from homemade French Toast and Oatmeal to Apple Pies and Snickerdoodle cookies. During the fall and winter season you see this cinnamon-y delightful stuff lining almost every grocery store shelf in sight. But do not be deceived!

You don’t have to buy an extra container of that store-bought cinnamon sugar if you have these 2 common baking ingredients at home: ground cinnamon and granulated sugar. If you keep these ingredients around then there is absolutely no reason you should have to spend more just to get a separate container of the pre-mixed stuff at the store.

I prefer to just make my own since I already keep plenty of sugar around for my baking recipes. All I need is some cinnamon and a mason jar and I’m all set! But I do have 1 other little tip to make the whole process mess-free. Here’s how I make sweet and simple Cinnamon Sugar!

To make simple cinnamon sugar, all you need is: cinnamon, sugar, measuring tools, a piping bag (for ease), and a mason jar. After measuring out the ingredients, cut 1 inch from the tip of a piping bag and insert it into the mason jar. Pour in the 2 ingredients, close the lid tightly, and shake well. Enjoy!

How to Make Simple Cinnamon Sugar

Now let me break down this super easy process. It takes just a minute and then you’ll be on your way to sweet, sugar-y bliss! Here’s how I make a batch of cinnamon sugar:

    1. First, measure out the ingredients with the measuring cup and spoons.
    2. Then, cut 1 inch from the bottom of a piping bag and insert it into a mason jar. Pour in the cinnamon and sugar through the piping bag into the jar.
      1. I like to use piping bags to transfer ingredients into the mason jar without making a mess and spilling it all over the place.
    3. Next, close the jar tightly and shake it well!
    4. Enjoy your homemade cinnamon sugar.

    How to Store Cinnamon Sugar

Keep homemade cinnamon sugar sealed in a mason jar, or other airtight container, for up to 2 years in the pantry or at room temperature. Always make sure to label the date on the outside of the container to keep up with freshness.
