Use a saucepan to heat up the cream, salt, and vanilla. Then pour the hot cream mixture over the white chocolate chips. Mix all together until smooth, then cover and chill for 3 hours in the fridge. Once cooled, use a hand mixer to beat the frosting until it is light, fluffy, and forms stiff peaks.

How to Make Whipped White Chocolate Ganache Frosting

Making this whipped ganache frosting is delightfully simple and easy to do for beginner bakers and experienced bakers alike! Though the process itself is quick to do, this frosting recipe does require a few hours of chill time before being whipped so keep that in mind for any time constraints. Here’s how to make my easy whipped white chocolate ganache frosting:

    1. First, gather and measure out the ingredients with the measuring cup and spoons. Pour the white chocolate chips into a large heat-safe glass mixing bowl.
    2. Next, pour the heavy whipping cream into a saucepan over medium heat. Occasionally stir the cream with a silicone spatula as it heats up.
    3. Add in the vanilla extract and salt and stir to combine them all together while heating.
    4. Heat the cream mixture on med-low until it is hot and starts to bubble but do not let it boil.
    5. Then, remove the saucepan from the heat and pour the hot cream mixture over the white chocolate chips. Let it sit for a minute or 2 to make mixing easier.
    6. Next, use a blending whisk to mix the white chocolate ganache thoroughly until it reaches a smooth consistency.
    7. Cover the mixing bowl with plastic food wrap and let it chill in the refrigerator for 3 hours. Occasionally unwrap and mix the ganache frosting while it sets.
    8. Next, prepare a stand mixer with a whisk attachment.
    9. Use the mixer to beat the ganache frosting for about 10 minutes at high speed.
    10. Remove the bowl and check to see that the frosting has reached the right consistency.
    11. You know the whipped frosting is ready when it is fluffy in texture and forms stiff peaks.
    12. Then, prepare 2 piping bags with 2 metal jumbo piping tips.
    13. Spoon the whipped frosting into the piping bags.
    14. Close off the bags with piping bag ties.
    15. Finally, you’re ready to pipe the frosting onto some homemade cupcakes, and enjoy!
      1. This frosting recipe makes enough to frost 18 cupcakes.

    Tips for Ganache Frostings

    • You can easily make this frosting ahead of time and start on your cake or cupcakes while the frosting is in the chilling stage to save yourself a lot of time!
    • Looking for more of a glaze or icing effect for your cake or cupcakes? Try using a White Chocolate Ganache instead!
    • Stick to whipping cream or heavy cream only! Trying to substitute the cream for a thinner liquid such as milk will keep your ganache frosting from setting properly.
    • Chocolate ganache frosting can be made with any chocolate flavors like semi-sweet, bittersweet, milk chocolate, or white chocolate and can be made using either chocolate chips or baking bars.

    Storing White Chocolate Ganache Frosting

To store white chocolate frosting before being whipped: transfer to a ziploc bag or wrap a piece of plastic wrap over the bowl, pressed against the surface of the container to prevent any film or crust from forming on the ganache. Always label the date on the outside of the container. Store in the fridge for up to 2 weeks, or in the freezer for up to 1 month. If frozen, thaw in the fridge overnight. If a drizzling effect is desired then let it come to room temperature after thawing.

To store ganache frosting after being whipped: transfer the frosting to a freezer-safe ziploc bag. Mark the date on the outside to keep up with freshness and store the frosting in the fridge for up to 2 weeks, or in the freezer for up to 1 month. If frozen, thaw in the fridge overnight and re-whip for a couple of minutes to reach the light and fluffy texture.

Hey there! If you’re planning to make your white chocolate ganache frosting ahead of time, I’d recommend refrigerating it before whipping. This way, it sets nicely overnight, and when you whip it the next day, you’ll get that perfect fluffy and smooth texture. Just let it come to room temperature for a bit before you start whipping. Happy baking!
