One of my favorite garnishes for baked goods is powdered sugar dusting. It’s simple, quick, and adds an immediate wow factor to photos and videos. - 1 tbsp powdered sugar

- Measure out all the ingredients, making sure to have exact amount of each ingredient as listed.
- In a bowl, mix together the powdered sugar and cornstarch.
- Transfer the mixture of powdered sugar and cornstarch into a sifter. Decorate the cake by gently tapping the side of the sifter with your fingers to distribute the powdered sugar dusting evenly.
- Slice and serve, ready to enjoy!
How to Make Powdered Sugar Dusting Last Longer without Melting
As a food videographer, I always strive to make my garnishes last as long as possible while I take hundreds of pictures and videos. One trick I use to make my powdered sugar dusting last longer is by adding a little extra cornstarch. Powdered sugar already contains some cornstarch, but by adding a bit more, I’m able to extend the lifespan of my garnish.

To use a flour sifter, transfer the powdered sugar into the sifter and press the handle quickly to release the sugar onto the cake.
