Simple Vanilla Bundt Cake From Box Cake

In the spring and summer, there’s nothing more refreshing than a big, cold glass of your favorite beverage! Whether you like to sip on lemonade, ice tea, fruit-infused water, or fruity cocktails, there’s a little something extra you can garnish your summer drink with. All it takes is a few minutes and you can add a little extra “umph” to any drink!

I’m talking about a simple lemon twist, of course! We’ve seen these little cuties add flair and just a hint of lemon flavor to cocktails for years. So why not bring something so simple, yet adorable, to our house parties, picnics, cookouts, and get-togethers?

Just a few tools, a lemon, and a few minutes are all you need to make these cute drink garnishes! Ready to add a little bit of that summer flair to your beverages? Let’s get started! Here’s how to make a perfect Lemon Twist!

To make a perfect lemon twist, all you need is: a room-temperature lemon, a sharp fruit knife, and a cutting board. First, wash and dry the lemon. Then, using a sharp knife, cut away the outside rind (or skin) of the lemon. Make sure to remove any of the lemon flesh from the rind. Then, twist the whole rind up tight. Hold it in place while slicing several individual “twists”. Then twist the individual cuts, even more, to help hold the twisted shape. Garnish and serve!

Now let’s quickly go over this short and simple process so you can get back to celebrating spring and summer with refreshing beverages! Here’s how to make a lemon twist garnish:

    1. First, wash the lemon and dry it off with a paper towel.
    2. Then, grab your equipment. Make sure you’re using a really sharp knife for the next step.
    3. Next, peel off the skin of the lemon with a small fruit knife.
    4. Make sure to cut away any leftover flesh from the lemon rind.
    5. Then, roll the lemon skin up tight.
    6. Hold the lemon roll and slice into several “twists” on the cutting board.
    7. After slicing, twist the individual lemon twists more to help it hold the shape.
    8. Finally, use your homemade lemon twists to garnish lemonades, cocktails, or flavored waters!
