How to Whip Up Your Own Homemade Chocolate Cake Glaze

Alright, let’s get down to this super easy and quick process so that you can be on your way to heavenly homemade chocolate bliss!

    1. First, measure out your ingredients into small glass mixing bowls. Then, heat a small saucepan with a pouring lip over medium heat and drop in the butter, chocolate chips, cocoa powder, and heavy cream.
    2. Use a blending whisk, or heat resistant spatula, to continue stirring the chocolate mixture while it cooks until the chocolate chips melt completely.
    3. Finally, pour the glaze into a heat safe container and let it cool entirely before drizzling over the bundt cake.

    Glaze Tips:

    • All baked goods need to be completely cool before pouring glaze on them. If you try to glaze pastries that are still warm the glaze will not stick, it will only slide off.
    • After pouring the chocolate glaze on baked goods, allow them to sit until the glaze sets and forms a thin crust layer. This can take up to 2 hours at room temperature.
    • Allow glazed sweets to dry completely before wrapping in plastic wrap and store them in a cool, dark place.

    Storing Leftover Chocolate Glaze

Once you let your homemade chocolate glaze set completely on the bundt cake or other baked good, the glaze will stay good for the life of the pastry that it is used on. However, the chocolate cake glaze needs to be stored in the refrigerator if it is on its own.

    • Pour any leftover glaze into an airtight container to keep it from drying out and then transfer it to the refrigerator.
    • Refrigerated chocolate cake glaze will stay good for up to 1 week.
    • Before using the glaze again, remove it from the refrigerator and bring it to room temperature.
