To make easy baked apples, all you need is: some apples, brown sugar, cinnamon, pecans, raisins, unsalted butter, hot water, a baking dish, and an apple corer. First, preheat the oven to 375°F. Then, remove the apple cores and evenly cut off the top of the apples. Mix the sugar, cinnamon, pecans, and raisins together, then pack the mixture into each apple. Transfer the apples to the baking dish, top each one with butter, then pour the hot water into the bottom of the baking dish. Bake the apples for 45 minutes. Serve with your favorite garnishes!

Scrumptious Baked Apple Ingredients
Now let me break down my ingredient list, along with my top favorite garnishes for this recipe. I much prefer to make my own homemade toppings for optimum autumn flavor but you can opt for store-bought instead to make this simple recipe even easier. Here’s what I use:
Baked Apples:
- 4 large Apples
- ¼ cup brown sugar
- 1 tsp Ground Cinnamon
- ¼ cup Pecans – chopped
- ½ cup Raisins – chopped
- 1 tbsp unsalted butter
- ¾ cup water – boiled hot
Garnishes:
- Caramel sauce – I prefer to use Homemade Caramel
- Toasted pecans chopped, or Homemade Toasted Pecans
- Vanilla Ice cream
- Whipped Cream – Here’s how to make Homemade Whipped Cream
How to Make the Best Baked Apples
Once all the tools and ingredients are gathered and prepared, it’s time to make some magic happen! This whole process is really simple and easy to follow along. So without further ado, here is how I make the best-baked apples ever:
- First, measure out all of the ingredients and preheat the oven to 375°F. Then, use the apple corer to remove the cores and middles from each of the large apples, leaving ¼ inch at the bottom of the apples. Slice off the top of each apple so that the top is even.
- Next, combine the brown sugar, cinnamon, chopped pecans, and raisins. Scoop the mixture evenly into the cored apples, pressing down to pack the mixture in well.
- Then, transfer the filled apples to an 8×8 Baking Dish, and top each one with some unsalted butter. Pour the hot water into the bottom of the dish.
- This is to help the apples cook evenly without burning.
- Bake the stuffed apples in the preheated oven for 45 minutes, or until the apples appear slightly soft. If desired, you can bake them longer for softer apples.
- Finally, transfer the hot apples to serving plates and top with caramel, ice cream, whipped cream, or any of your favorite garnishes!

Storing Baked Apples
These mouth-watering baked apples are best enjoyed right away. However, if you do somehow end up with some leftovers (it’s very unlikely) you can actually store them for a short time.
To store baked apples: first, cover the apples with cellophane wrap or transfer them to an airtight container. Then store them in the refrigerator for up to 2 days. Always label the date on the outside of the container to keep up with freshness. I do not recommend freezing these baked apples because they can be way too mushy when thawed out.
