Despite my work focusing mostly on food photography and videography, I prefer versatility in my work, and that would include using action cameras as GoPro. I think it’s quite easy to use in my everyday life, finding opportunities for filming the local scenery or doing the things I love, and the GoPro HERO7 Black is perfect for capturing these moments.
My GoPro gear
I had been previously using a GoPro HERO5 Black and wasn’t planning on getting the newest model, but I was left with no choice after my lens broke, after a little while of pretty rugged use while skiing.
This, however, turned out to be a happy accident- after buying the HERO7, I’ve found that it is a massive improvement from the HERO5. The 7 shoots in 4k video with slow-motion capabilities, and includes color-grading- things that I was missing out on with my other GoPros. The HERO7 features internal stabilization, so I’m able to use it without the use of a gimbal to get smooth footage without having extra equipment. The HERO7 is also extremely easy to use- I can control it multiple ways, such as using simple voice commands when I’m on the ski slopes & can’t get to my phone, or when I can use my phone, I can change settings and record with ease.
I find the HERO7 most useful for outdoor and sports videography, and I have been using it to its fullest potential. When on the slopes, instead of mounting it to my helmet or ski, I mount it on my ski pole using a ski pole mount, to reduce blocking the field of view. While on the slopes, I also use a GoPro Dual Battery Charger and an additional portable charger, to ensure that I have enough spare batteries to last the whole day on the slopes, and I don’t need to worry about missing out on something that I want to shoot.
With the HERO7’s convenience, I can also use it when I’m just walking around, using a Manfrotto mini tripod with a tripod mount adapter to have a bit more stabilization when filming.
