How many cookies fit in a Christmas cookie gift box?
In this calculator, a Small box holds about 6 cookies, a Medium box about 8, and a Large box about 21. Those are practical estimates for the box sizes I use—actual capacity can change with cookie diameter, thickness, liners, and packaging.
How does the Christmas Cookie Box Calculator work?
Choose how many Small, Medium, and Large gift boxes you need, select the cookie recipes you want to include, then calculate. The tool totals the cookies to pack, estimates how many batches to bake, and builds a combined shopping list from my recipes.
How does the calculator estimate recipe batches?
It starts from the cookies you need to pack, then uses an 80% realistic yield so you bake a little extra for breakage, uneven sizes, and tasting. Batch counts always round up to whole recipes.
Why is actual cookie yield often lower than the recipe says?
Home baking rarely produces a perfect tray of gift-ready cookies. Some cookies break, bake unevenly, or get set aside while you test icing and decorations. The 80% yield estimate keeps your gift-box plan more realistic.
Can I mix different cookie recipes in one gift box?
Yes. Select multiple recipes, then choose how many of each cookie go into each box size. The calculator multiplies those per-box counts by the number of boxes you entered.
Do gingerbread cookie sandwiches count differently?
Yes. A gingerbread cookie sandwich is two cookies with buttercream in between, so the calculator counts each sandwich as two cookies when it fills your boxes and estimates how many cookies to bake.
Which cookie recipes are included in the calculator?
