As for the ingredients? Well I only use a handful of the yummiest sandwich ingredients for this scrumptious set-up. This is what I use to make these energizing, and oh-so-satisfying grilled sandwiches:

- 4 slices sourdough bread
- 6 slices Provolone cheese

How to Make a Savory Provolone and Apple Grilled Cheese Sandwich
All this scrumptious sandwich talk making your belly growl and mouth water yet? Then let’s get started so you can enjoy a lunch that will leave you feeling energized and refreshed! Here’s how I make provolone and apple grilled cheese sandwiches:
- First, set out all of the savory sandwich ingredients.
- Next, thinly slice the Gala Apple, or desired apple.
- Then, layout the 4 slices of sourdough bread on a flat surface. I like to use a cutting board.
- Next, spread the mayo on top of each of the bread slices.
- Preheat a nonstick skillet on medium-low heat.
- Then, lay the 2 slices of bread in the hot skillet, with the mayo side facing down on the pan. Start assembling the sandwiches by layering one slice of provolone cheese on the bread, followed by turkey, or lunch meat, slices.
- Layer with another slice of cheese.
- Spread several apple slices over each of the 2 open sandwiches.
- Then, cover with another final slice of cheese.
- Finally, put the last 2 slices of bread on top of the sandwiches with the mayo sides facing up.
- Cover the skillet with its lid and cook the sandwiches for 3-5 minutes, or until golden brown on the bottom. Keep occasionally checking to make sure the bread doesn’t burn.
- When the bottom bread is golden brown, flip the sandwiches and press them down with a spatula. Re-cover the skillet and cook for another 3-5 minutes.
- When the second side is golden brown, remove the sandwiches from the heat and cut diagonally. Enjoy!
Storage Tip:
These scrumptious sandwiches are best enjoyed right after cooking! However, any leftovers can be wrapped up and stored in the fridge overnight, if needed. The next day, reheat leftovers in a hot skillet.
