Each unicorn is totally customizable, encouraging kids to express their imagination while building fine motor skills. Great for upcycling and minimal mess, this DIY craft also doubles as charming bedroom or party decor. Ready to sparkle? Let’s make unicorns!
Start by cleaning each toilet paper roll, making sure there’s no leftover paper or glue stuck to the surface.
Use acrylic paint to cover the entire roll in your chosen color. Set them aside to dry completely before continuing.
Once dry, paint on cute black eyes and little pink circles for blush. You can add lashes for extra personality if you’d like.
Cut out small ear shapes from colored construction paper. Then shape a horn and a little crown from gold glitter cardstock.
Take colorful tissue paper, layer it, and cut into strips about 6 inches long and ½ inch wide. Trim some into 4-inch and 2-inch pieces to vary the mane and tail lengths.
Fan out the tissue strips and staple or glue the ends together to hold their layered shape.
Glue or staple the mane to the top-back edge of the unicorn. Then attach the ears and horn behind the mane. Add the tail to the back.
Now for the fun part—decorate! Add rhinestones, glitter, yarn, pipe cleaners, or anything sparkly and fun to give each unicorn its own flair.
