First, measure out the water with a measuring cup and set out the tools and asparagus.
Then, prepare a cutting board and a good kitchen knife.
Next, use the knife to cut off about 1.5 inches of the asparagus ends.
Check to make sure the asparagus will fit inside the steamer insert. If not, just cut them all in half.
Pour the water into a steam pot, cover, and bring it to a boil.
Then, place a steamer insert in the pot.
Place the asparagus inside the steamer insert and cover with the lid.
Steam the asparagus on medium heat for 5 minutes.
Check to make sure the asparagus stalks are cooked all the way through but are still a little bit crunchy and not soggy.
Finally, transfer the steamed asparagus to a plate and serve with fresh lemon wedges, homemade Hollandaise Sauce, and your favorite protein like my easy Oven-Baked Lobster Tails!
