First, cut the broccoli into medium size florets on the cutting board and measure out the water with a measuring cup.
Next, pour the measured water into the cooking pot.
Cover the pot with a lid to help heat the water faster.
Bring the water to a boil.
Then, place a steamer basket into the cooking pot above the water.
Place the broccoli florets in the steamer basket, close the lid, and steam them over medium heat for 6-7 minutes.
The broccoli is ready when it turns bright green and is still a little bit crunchy and not soggy.
Then, carefully remove the steamer basket from the pot. I like to use tongs for this part.
Finally, transfer the steamed broccoli to a serving bowl, serve, and enjoy!

Notes
Storing Steamed BroccoliTo store steamed broccoli: transfer the cooked broccoli to a shallow airtight container and store in the fridge for up to 5 days. Softer steamed broccoli should be kept only up to 3 days after cooking. Always label the date on the outside of the container to keep up with freshness.
