First, measure out all of the ingredients and preheat the oven to 375°F. Then, use the apple corer to remove the cores and middles from each of the large apples, leaving ¼ inch at the bottom of the apples. Slice off the top of each apple so that the top is even.
Next, combine the brown sugar, cinnamon, chopped pecans, and raisins. Scoop the mixture evenly into the cored apples, pressing down to pack the mixture in well.
Then, transfer the filled apples to an 8x8 Baking Dish, and top each one with some unsalted butter. Pour the hot water into the bottom of the dish. This is to help the apples cook evenly without burning.
Bake the stuffed apples in the preheated oven for 45 minutes, or until the apples appear slightly soft. If desired, you can bake them longer for softer apples.
Finally, transfer the hot apples to serving plates and top with caramel, ice cream, whipped cream, or any of your favorite garnishes!
Notes
Storing Baked Apples These mouth-watering baked apples are best enjoyed right away. However, if you do somehow end up with some leftovers (it’s very unlikely) you can actually store them for a short time.
