Our Commitment To Organic

Organic isn't the easiest way to make food, and it's not the fastest way, either. But we believe it's the way it needs to be done. That's why we never use antibiotics, synethic hormones, toxic pesticides, GMOs or artificial ingredients. To us, organic is a simple philosophy: we farm in harmony with nature.

The Pasture-Raised Difference

Before our organic buttermilk makes it to your kitchen, it comes from pasture-raised cows. That's why Organic Valley buttermilk tastes rich and pure. Because it all starts with cows living on a proper diet of grass, just the way nature intended.

But Where's The Butter?

Something not many people realize is that there isn't actually any butter in buttermilk. It was actually first made from the liquid leftover after churning butter. What we know and love today is a nutritious beverage that's rich in flavor but with fewer calories than whole milk or cream.

A Helping Of Calcium

While buttermilk is often valued for its use in baking and cooking, it also shines as a source of calcium. Each serving of our organic buttermilk contains 25% of your daily value of calcium.

Product Description

Organic Valley, Organic Pasteurized Low Fat Cultured Buttermilk has a rich and creamy, old-fashioned flavor with a mild and tangy kick. Your grandparents kept this staple on hand for a reason; it isn’t just deliciously refreshing, it’s also loaded with good-for-you calcium and riboflavin and has probiotic properties that aid in digestion. Our cultured low fat buttermilk is always USDA Certified Organic and comes from the milk of pasture-raised cows on small family farms, so you can trust in its quality. There are no antibiotics, synthetic hormones, toxic pesticides or GMOs in this real buttermilk, so every sip is deliciously pure, just like it was meant to taste. Serve it in tall glasses with a slice of cornbread on the side, or fold it into your favorite buttermilk biscuits or pancake batter recipes. Keep it on hand as an alternative to whole milk, use it to coat meats prior to frying or make it a creamy base for homemade buttermilk ranch dressing. For best taste, drink or use this 1% buttermilk within five days of opening.

So much more than just an 'ingredient.'

So much more than just an 'ingredient.'
Organic Valley is turning out an exceptional product and this Organic Buttermilk has brought endless pleasure since the day it appeared on the shelf. The milk is silky smooth, preserving a perfectly tart-to-sweet ratio and offering up vast swaths of sensuous creaminess, a judicious salt aesthetic and unparalleled consistency from bottle to bottle. (In a perfect world these bottles would be made of glass.)I know only a handful of people who buy their buttermilk because they love to DRINK it. Not to say OV's Buttermilk isn't right at home in a hot stack of pancakes or can't sleep straight through another Ranch dressing. But there are wines less significant than an '05 Romanée-Conti that can provide adequate encouragement to a signature coq au vin.For me, this inimitable revelation deserves to be savored unadorned, cold but not too cold, absolutely from a glass, slowly considered in the mouth and permitted to saturate the tongue with leisure, bud by bud, reluctantly swallowed, and finally punctuated with a satisfaction that comes from experiencing the survival of quality.I don't shop any grocery store that doesn't carry it.
